CEREC technology offers patients a more convenient and efficient method for getting dental restorations. In the traditional method of creating most restorations, patients would have to wait several weeks for their new restoration, and they would have to make several trips to the dentist’s office. With CEREC technology, patients get their new restoration the same day as their treatment.
CEREC stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.” This chairside technology uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) technology. The machine takes a digital impression of the patient’s tooth, and the information is sent to a milling machine. The milling machine then creates the restoration from a block of ceramic material.
Benefits of CEREC Restorations
CEREC technology allows your dentist to quickly and conveniently restore damaged teeth. CEREC restorations are metal-free and made from durable, tooth-colored ceramic material. CEREC restorations are highly aesthetic and look natural, so no one will suspect you’ve had dental work!

What Does A CEREC Restoration Procedure Involve?
An intraoral camera is used to capture 3D images of your damaged tooth. These images help your dentist create a 3D model of your tooth. This 3D model is then used to design your restoration. Once your dentist has designed your restoration, it will be milled from a ceramic block. The restoration is then fitted and bonded to your damaged tooth. The entire procedure can be completed in as little as 1-2 hours.
How Do I Care For CEREC Restorations?
The restorations made with CEREC technology are very strong. In fact, most CEREC restorations are guaranteed for ten years. These restorations are metal-free and extremely lifelike, which makes them very difficult to tell apart from your natural teeth.
And it’s important that you care for them just like your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing are just as important for your CEREC restorations as they are for your natural teeth.
The CEREC® system offers a convenient, noninvasive way to restore teeth compromised by cavities, chips, cracks, stains, and other imperfections. Unlike traditional restorations, CEREC® restorations are milled from a single block of high-quality ceramic material in just a few minutes. Plus, CEREC® restorations are metal-free and look completely natural. Patients can even request custom staining of CEREC® restorations for an even more natural appearance.
What Are CEREC Restorations Used For?
CEREC restorations are ideal for those looking to restore damaged teeth or replace missing teeth, but they are not just for those purposes. They can also be used to create custom restorations like veneers, dental crowns, inlays, and even dental bridges.
CEREC restorations are an excellent choice if you are looking for a conservative approach to treating tooth decay, tooth fractures, or replacing old, unattractive fillings. Plus, CEREC restorations are metal free, so you can get the aesthetic results you want without sacrificing strength or durability.
